This circa 1920-1930 Khotan measures 5’1” X 7’1”. It has a single medallion containing a square and a flower and some hook figures on a grey ground. There are four rhomboids, one in each corner surrounded by floral wreaths. There are flowering trees at each end coming out of pots in pale green, ivory, pink and orange. There is an ivory meandering vine and flower minor border. The major border is red and pale green and the next border has a jagged lightning bolt motif. These Khotans from the 1st quarter of the 20th century are essentially impossible to describe because the designs made do not really have English descriptions. You have to actually be from Kyrgyzstan. The intellectual ability to describe these rugs is not there. Buy it, enjoy it. But I doubt you will get it either! The pile is 90% full. It is clean and ready to go. The buyer pays the shipping with insurance of $50.00.
