This circa 1880 Turkish Bergama measures 4’5” X 6’8” (137 x 207 cm). It is drawn with a cross in green in the center of the tomato red ground. The upper ends of the center medallion are done in blue green. The tops of the cross come into a very asymmetric part of the field. The upper corners of the field are also very asymmetric on a tomato red ground. There is an ivory motif which looks like a letter T or a candelabra and it’s in different places in the rug. The main border consists of different combinations of four leafs in red, blue, teal, green and yellow all constructed in no regulated manner that I can tell. It’s very interesting but I don’t know the name of it. The minor borders are a zig zag design outlined in dark blue. The ends are complete. The sides need overcasting but it’s all there. The pile is full but there are 3-4 places the size on my little finger where some foundation is showing and another place about 1 inch by 2-3 inches. If the client wants it fixed, I can have it done. It is clean and ready to go. The buyer pays the shipping which includes insurance of $75.00.
