This circa 1915 antique Mahajaran Sarouk Persian Oriental Rug measures 9’2” X 12’2”. 95% of all Sarouks of this age are known as ‘crowded’. This Sarouk for obvious reason is known as ‘open design’. It has a very lovely floral motif with a small medallion flanked by a combination of beautifully drawn floral bouquets. There are 4 floral bouquets in all four corners with a harp shaped motif holding flowers. The rug is done in two shades of blue, light and dark rose and green on a red ground leaning towards ruby red. The major border has a floral motif and is encompassed with two sets of reciprocal borders. The inner one on an ivory ground has meandering flowers. The rug has very good quality wool and is full pile. The ends and sides are complete except for a spot about 20 inches long that is missing three knots into the rug. It is clean and ready to go. The buyer pays the shipping with insurance of $150.00.
