This circa 1900 Peking Chinese Rug measures 4’3” X 7’11”. There is a pair of pink birds with large blue tails and tongues. Another large bird serves as a center medallion with a big blue tail, blue wings, and a ruffled feathered neck with a pink body. Four blue urns holding scrolls and flowering trees are coming out of the border into the field in two shades of blue. Floral motifs are scattered throughout the field which is a very light café au lait to ecru. The minor inner border is a coin pattern on an ivory ground. The major border has different views of a three story or a one story pink pagoda in an ivory cartouche on a darker blue ground. This rug is exceedingly interesting. There is a lot going on. The more one looks at it, the more one sees and it is in perfect condition. The rug is full pile with complete ends and sides. It is clean and ready to go.
