Description
This circa 1875 Peking Chinese Oriental Rug measures 4’0” X 5’10”. It has a beautiful snow white to ivory field with a center medallion looking like a wreath of flowers with two butterflies and two birds in brown and three shades of blue having a good time in the middle of the wreath. There are five sprigs of twigs and flowers in the field surrounding the center medallion. All is encompassed with a major border that is a slightly darker shade of white. The border design is a play on meandering vine and flower design but I have never seen it worked in quite this unique manner. The rug is in perfect full pile condition. The ends and sides are complete. It is clean and ready to go. The buyer pays the shipping with insurance of $75.00.
