This circa 1880 Fereghan Sarouk measures 4’7” X 6’6”. It has a one way design the top of which is a modified prayer niche completely filled with weeping willow branches drawn in a tree of life motif flanked by ivory spandrels in a tightly drawn floral motif. On the bottom of the weeping willow branches there is a beautiful floral motif that goes all the way to the bottom of the field where it leads to a decorated urn filled with a bouquet of flowers in the shape of a fan out of which rises a very nice bouquet. Flanking the urn on either side is a horn of plenty out of which grows foliage, buds, and flowers going up into the field and under the weeping willow. At the base of the field at each side of the urn are trees with triple trunks growing even to the top of the urn completely covered with flowers and leaves all on an ivory field with a very pale abrash across the center. The design is unbelievably beautiful and very elegant. There are three minor borders which are all different. The major border is composed of a heavily decorated floral design on a navy ground. This rug has a very fine weave and high knot count. It is full pile. The ends and sides are complete. It is clean and ready to go. The buyer pays the shipping which includes insurance of $75.00.
