Description

This circa 1880 Kurd Kazak Rug measures 4‘4“ x 7‘8“. I have never seen a rug remotely designed in this manner, so I don’t really know how to describe it. It is incredibly beautiful. The rug is slightly oversized for type. The outside border is two shades of blue. Part of the upper border is dark blue, changing to sky blue and changing again as it goes down the sides. The border contains diamond shapes with frilly edges in peach, dark, brown, rust, red, gray and ivory along either side. The end motif resembles snowflakes only with more than six sides. The borders are very asymmetrical. The field is a rusty red, except at the upper and where there is an abrash becoming a darker brownish red, then a lighter red. Take a close look at the field. The best way I can describe it is the field is covered with eight sided pointed stars all different colors in green, red, white, yellow, and blue. The center medallion has a very unique design. This rug is essentially in perfect condition. It is full pile. It is clean and ready to go. The buyer pays the shipping with insurance of $95.00.
