Description
This circa 1925 Art Deco Chinese Oriental Rug measures 9’0” X 12’0“. It has a dark raspberry colored field encompassed by a beautiful gray border. At the lower left corner of the rug there is an interesting floral motif consisting of blue reed-like growths with a 6 foot long stem with purple, yellow, pink and blue flowers which grow up the gray border, all coming from an attractive rock formation. In the lower left corner is a group of four petal flowers that look like they were thrown onto the rug. In the lower right corner is a similar rock formation from which grow reeds in coffee, gold, 2 shades of green, and two shades of purple with a water lily in 2 shades of green, purple, blue and yellow gold. This is next to a tree in the border with a floral explosion going up the entire border. To the left of the tree in the field there is a growth of flowers in purple, blue, yellow, and brown. Going up the gray border the foliage on the tree looks like windmills. Coming from the border, across the top of the rug and into the field is a lovely gathering of hanging bell shaped flowers. There is a huge bouquet of flowers at the gray top border. This rug is in essentially perfect condition. The ends and sides are complete. It is clean and ready to go.
