This circa 1880 Agra handmade wool Oriental Rug measures 9’10” X 14’7”. I honestly cannot put a name on the background color of this rug. It is some shade of blue combined with grey. The field has a center medallion in a pale shade of lavender with a centerpiece exploding out into the field. The pulled ends of it consist of a lovely drawn Baroque style half medallion. The field has an overall floral motif. The main border is quite wide with a meandering vine and flower motif with blue, green and tobacco colored leaves and swirls with touches of rusty red and ivory separating different colored blossoms. There are four minor borders each different which style is rarely found except in antique Indian rugs of which this is a beautiful example. The elegant and sophisticated drawing of this rug will definitely improve the look and feeling of any room you choose to lay it in. The pile is evenly low. The ends and sides are complete. It is clean and ready to go. The buyer pays the shipping with insurance of $200.00.
