This first quarter 20th century antique Karaja Oriental rug measures 4’8” X 6’3” (146 x 192 cm). It has a fairly typical Karaja design with three medallions on a medium red field completely covered in geometric motif. The major border on a dark blue ground has a modified flower and vine motif along with serrated leafs. Everything is done in light red, medium blue and ivory. The major border is encompassed by two minor borders. One has various colored botehs on an ivory ground. The outer one has various colored botehs on a light red ground. Both ends are missing approximately two rows of knots all the way across. The ends have been overcast to stabilize. The edges are in good condition. The rug has even pile.
