This 18th century Ningxia measures 10’6” x 12’9” (323 x 393 cm). It has six foo lions cavorting among cloud symbols in white and Chinese brown. There are six peonies in pink and four in white all on a medium blue to dark blue ground. The center medallion is composed of two circling foo lions in tobacco color. There seems to be the head of a man attached to two very short legs beneath one of the foo lions facing straight out. This medallion is circled with various motifs and an interesting rendition of cloud motif. In the center of all four sides coming into the field are images of the sacred mountain all encompassed with a beautiful wave design. Along the outer limits of the blue field is a more or less rice design in white. It outlines the blue field and the sacred mountain icon. This is a very interesting touch. The rug shows wear as expected in an 18th century rug. The ends and sides are complete. The rug is clean and ready to go. The buyer pays the shipping with insurance of $200.
