Description
This circa 1920 Sarouk antique Persian carpet measures 4’2” X 6’6” (128 x 201 cm). It has a maroon field containing an eight pointed star in navy blue and ivory in the so called pulled motif. The maroon ground is essentially covered by floral activity ie flowers and vines. The corners are very nicely worked and are essentially a cross between floral and geometric motifs. The border is meandering flower and vine on a navy ground. This rug is very finely woven, almost Mahajaran. The ends and sides are complete. It is in 99.9% mint condition.
