This circa 1900 Peking Chinese Oriental rug measures 9’2” x 11’8”. It has a very dark blue field with corners worked in idyll water scenes of a rockery with a willow tree in ivory, a small pagoda in light blue, a flag pole with waving banners and various foliage in all four corners. The center consists of a nicely drawn floral motif serving as a medallion with six small sprays of flowers in the field surrounding the medallion. The minor interior border is a light café au lait containing various Buddhist symbols. The major border is ivory and contains floral motifs. This beautiful rug is in near perfect condition.
