Description
This circa 1920 antique Persian Bibicabot Oriental Rug measures 11’0” X 17’0” (335 X 517 cm). The ground is woven in an old ivory color with an overall motif of flowers and vines, very similar to a Kerman of the same age. It has large red chrysanthemums and smaller generic flowers in various colors of green, red and blue. Amongst all this foliage are many birds. Some flying through the mass of leafs and flowers and some perched on branches. All are very well drawn. The reciprocal minor borders consist of a meandering S motif with flower heads on a medium dark blue ground. A very wide major border in maroon contains various depictions of flowers. Some appear to be growing and some most certainly are in vases. There are a few very slightly low areas. The sides are complete and original. One end has slight raveling. The rug is clean and ready to go. The buyer pays the shipping with insurance of $225.
