This circa 1925 signed Nichols Art Deco Chinese rug measures 8’11” X 11’10”. It has a garnet red field with a center motif of trumpet vines with a nice medium jade green border with gigantic flowers coming out of the border into the field which is very enticing to the butterfly which is flitting around the upper right corner looking for his companion in the outer border. The border consists of huge flowers and leafs meandering in and out of the border into the field in purple, yellow, three shades of blue, three shades of green, lavender and rusty red. In the lower left quadrant is Chinese script. This is a very rare deign for a Nichols rug and one hardly ever see Chinese script in this kind of rug. The wool is better than most Nichols rugs. The rug is extremely heavy. This was obviously a custom made piece. It is in mint condition. This rug is full pile. The ends and sides are complete. It is clean and ready to go. The buyer pays shipping with insurance of $150.00.
