Description
This circa 1925 Art Deco Chinese rug measures 4’7” x 7’4”. It has eight Chinese men. Two of them are sitting in the foreground discussing the days events; s.a. who’s sleeping with who, how is business, did you notice how ratty that one’s beard it is getting? In the background two other men are playing chess while four others kibitz about the game. This is all happening on a black ground with a large tree in the upper left. There is a lovely floral border in pale green, pink, pale blue, and yellow. There is light lavender in the men’s clothing. This is a very well drawn peaceful and lovely rug in perfect condition.
