This circa 1900 Persian Bibicabot antique Persian Oriental Rug measures 12’6” X 16’7”. This large Palace sized carpet has the visual characteristics of a Fereghan Sarouk. It has a small indigo diamond medallion in the center of a pulled anchor ivory medallion superimposed on a rust field, all worked in very large Herati design in ivory, pale blue, dark blue and rust.   The corners are worked in indigo with a tighter Herati motif. The extreme corners are worked in ivory. The major border is meandering vine and flower head design on an ivory ground. One of the most interesting characteristics of this rug is the reciprocal borders. With a little imagination, one can see men on a chessboard. The rose colored botehs on a stand are very much like Knights, they separate the overdesigned King next to the slightly smaller Queen and interspersed you will see a pagoda like image which are without a doubt the Castles. Maybe I have an overactive imagination, but in my opinion, that is what makes this business fun. This rug is in excellent condition. It has good pile all over. The ends and sides are complete. It is clean and ready to go. This rug is a great value for the money. The buyer pays the shipping of $225.00.
