#7765 Oushak Weigerah

This circa 1870 antique Khamseh Oriental Rug measures 5’0” X 7’10” (152 x 239 cm). It has three pulled medallions in red each containing at least four birds and various quadrupeds that all have arrows protruding from every point like all good Khamseh do. The ground is a cane motif which is very interestingly drawn in alternating colors which seems to make the three medallions float. I’m not kidding, they come off the ground! The camel colored ground contains a tulip and geometric square motif. The rug has a beautiful pair of lappets at each end. One end has rectangles with red flowers. The other end has blue, red and camel colored squares containing ivory, blue, brown and green flowers. The rug shows wear mainly confined to the center in the 3 o’clock position. The ends are complete. The sides have been rewrapped. The rug is clean and ready to go. The buyer pays the shipping including insurance of $40.
